Centurion’s response update to COVID-19

Centurion is closely monitoring the current COVID-19 situation through various federal and provincial health agencies, and media outlets. Our top priority is to keep employees, residents, and clients vigilant, healthy, and safe by implementing the appropriate measures as new information emerges. We have strengthened our existing Business Continuity Plan and aim to perform regular business functions that may otherwise be disrupted by COVID-19. We currently have measures in place to support our employees, residents, and clients.

How we are supporting our employees

We are communicating consistently and effectively across multiple communication channels to our employees as new information emerges daily on best safety and hygiene practices.

We have implemented the following measures:

  • Developing a Pandemic Preparedness Plan as part of our larger already existing Emergency Preparedness Plan to minimize disruption in our daily operations
  • Cancelling all non-essential travel
  • Offering recommendations for Emergency Preparedness Kits
  • Encouraging residents to pay by PAP and paying vendors and suppliers by EFT to limit person to person contact
  • Disinfecting common areas at head office
  • Offering and restocking hand sanitizing stations
  • Setting up remote working capabilities
  • Social distancing initiatives such as keeping a safe distance from employees
  • Banning visitors from visiting head office
  • Implementing a no handshake policy
  • Self-quarantine, if necessary

How we are supporting our clients

We are prepared to manage business disruptions caused by employee absences, breakouts at properties, or quarantines. We are encouraging clients to continue to contact us if they have any questions. Our team will continue to respond to your inquiries even with modified business operations. We are in contact with our borrowers and investment partners about potential risks and work disruptions due to COVID-19.

We have implemented the following measures:

  • Developing a Pandemic Preparedness Plan as part of our larger already existing Emergency Preparedness Plan to minimize disruption in our daily operations
  • Prioritizing liquidity, as we always do
  • Staff and systems are being prepared to work from home

How we are supporting our residents

We are currently communicating with our residents through various communication channels.

We have implemented the following measures:

  • Developing a Pandemic Preparedness Plan as part of our larger already existing Emergency Preparedness Plan to minimize disruption in our daily operations
  • Encouraging residents to sign up for Pre-Authorized Payment
  • Cancelling planned student events until further notice to protect our residents and staff
  • Encouraging those with travel plans to re-evaluate their plans
  • Monitoring cleanliness of properties
  • Offering and restocking hand sanitizing stations
  • Offering Skype/cell phone/iPad tours instead of in-person
  • Providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect front facing staff and reduce leasing and property management disruptions

Please note: These measures may be subject to change as new information emerges.

What we are planning to do

We will continue to monitor and evaluate the ongoing situation and keep our best practices in place while communicating to our employees, residents, and clients. It is important that everyone remains resilient to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and follow the guidance of public health agencies.
